Victor Pytko
Title: Raku Door
Pytko created a wooden door
with a finish resembling that of
raku, a classic kiln-fired ceramic
finish.
“Raku Door can be seen as an absurdity,
an oxymoron — the idea
of a wooden door being raku-ed
in a wood fired kiln,” he says. “I
wanted to visualize an impossibility,
like perpetual motion or
transparent steel — and what
people say about Detroit being a
dead city. It’s not. Raku Door
symbolizes that the impossible is
possible with the right vision.”
